Hydrant flushing is scheduled for the weeks of October 9-13 and 16-20.
Flushing removes natural minerals that have settled in the pipes to maintain water clarify and quality in the distribution pipes. It also allows staff to verify the proper operation of hydrants and valves to maintain firefighting capabilities.
Flushing may lead to temporary discoloration of your water. If this happens, open the cold water tap nearest your water meter--usually the basement sink or an outside hose bib--until the water runs clear. This usually takes about 10-15 minutes.
