Procedure for Approval

  • Call Community Development at 262-246-5215 to determine if your business is a permitted use or a conditional use in the zoning district. The Zoning District in which a prospective property is located determines the permitted and conditionally permitted business uses. All new business, including relocated businesses, must complete a Plan of Operation for approval by the Plan Commission. Businesses that sell liquor and/or tobacco must obtain additional approval.
  • Complete a Plan of Operation application and submit it to the Planning and Development Department along with the required fee(s) by the last business day of the month for consideration for the next Plan Commission agenda. The Plan Commission meets once a month. The Plan of Operation application is available at the Civic Center or on our website.
  • If available, submit applications for other required permits at this time (sign, liquor, tobacco or outside establishment operations).
  • If you will need to build out or remodel an existing tenant space a building permit must be issued by the Building Inspector.
