Waukesha County and the Village of Sussex invite residents, visitors, and all their four-legged friends to celebrate the official opening of the new off-leash Dog Exercise Area in Menomonee Park on Thursday, July 22. The ‘Grand Unleashing’ event will take place at the Dog Exercise Area at 3:00 p.m.
The 32-acre Dog Exercise Area has three separate spaces for off-leash dog activities with mowed trails and open turf areas. There are separate areas for large breed and small breed dogs and a covered picnic shelter with modern restrooms and water access.
The Menomonee Park Dog Exercise Area is the fourth off-leash Dog Exercise Area within the Waukesha County Park System. The dog exercise area will be open to all park users who wish to bring their dogs. Access to the site will be included in the park entrance fee.
Attendees and their leashed dogs are also invited to enjoy the Raised Grain Pop-up Beer Garden at the beach area in the park after the event from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. to celebrate the “Dog Days of Summer.” Raised Grain will share a free treat with any dog that joins them at the beer garden.
The Village of Sussex contributed towards the capital costs to construct the dog park.
